克莱尔老师- 10 个含“eat”的美味短语动词

体无完肤意思(克莱尔老师- 10 个含“eat”的美味短语动词)

Oh, hey, guys.

嘿,大家好。

Today, we're continuing our series of learning phrasal verbs, this time with the base verb "eat." You might be thinking, how many phrasal verbs can there possibly be with the verb eat?

今天,我们继续学习短语动词,这次要讲的是以动词“eat(吃)”为核心的短语动词。你可能会想,“eat”这个动词能有多少个短语动词?

Well, you're in for a treat, because I actually have 10 phrasal verbs to share with you today that have the base verb eat, and most of them don't have anything to do with eating.

那你可要听好了,因为今天我要分享 10 个以“eat”为核心的短语动词,而且它们大多和“吃”这个动作本身没什么关系。

So I'm gonna finish this, and then let's get started.

所以,我先把这个吃完,然后我们马上开始。

English made easy with Claire.

All right, so just like in the rest of this series, I'm going to break down these phrasal verbs into easy-to-understand examples so you can see exactly how to use them.

和本系列其他视频一样,我会通过一些简单易懂的例子来讲解这些短语动词,让大家能清楚地了解它们的用法。

First up, we have eat out, and to eat out means to dine or eat at a restaurant.

首先是“eat out”,它的意思是在餐馆用餐,也就是下馆子。

For example, you could say, "I don't feel like cooking tonight. Let's eat out instead." And so just with this simple phrase, eat out, it means to eat at a restaurant.

比如,你可以说,“我今晚不想做饭,我们出去吃吧。”“eat out”这个简单的短语,意思就是在餐馆吃饭。

Now, eat in means to stay home and eat there.

“eat in”的意思就是在家里吃饭。

For example, "We're trying to save money, so we've been eating in." So again, just with this simple phrase, eat in, you mean you're staying home and cooking rather than going out to a restaurant and spending money.

例句:“我们最近想省点钱,所以一直都在家吃饭。”同样,“eat in”这个简单的短语,意思就是待在家里自己做饭,而不是花钱去餐馆吃饭。

Eat up.

“eat up(吃光、耗尽)”。

Okay, this one has two meanings, and it can mean to eat all the food on your plate or in front of you.

这个短语有两个意思,一个意思是吃光你盘子里或面前的所有食物。

For example, you could say, "Eat up your vegetables," and it means eat all of them.

比如,你可以说,“把你的蔬菜吃光”,意思就是把它们都吃完。

But eat up can also have nothing to do with food and mean to use up all the resources of something.

不过,“eat up”也可以用在和食物无关的场景,意思是耗尽某种资源。

For example, "Streaming videos can really eat up your data," so that means it uses up all your data.

例句:“在线看视频真的很耗流量”,意思就是会用光你的流量。

Eat away at, this means to erode or gradually destroy, and this can be used both literally and figuratively.

“eat away at”意思是“侵蚀”或“逐渐损耗”,既可以指具体事物,也可以用于比喻。

For example, "The acid ate away at the metal," so literally, one substance erodes another.

例句:“酸腐蚀了金属”,这里就是它的字面意思,指一种物质侵蚀了另一种。

To use it emotionally, we could say, "The guilt of lying was eating away at him," so it means it was kind of destroying him inside, or it was harming him emotionally.

如果用于情感层面,我们可以说,“撒谎的负罪感不断侵蚀着他”,意思就是这种感觉在精神上折磨、伤害他。

Eat into means to reduce something, often valuable like time or money.

“eat into”的意思是消耗或占用宝贵的资源,比如时间或金钱。

For example, "Unexpected expenses are eating into my savings." In fact, on the day this video is published, I'm also publishing an exclusive video for my Insider channel members where I get a little more personal and talk more about cultural topics, what it's like being an American in Europe, a little more unfiltered.

So check that out if that sounds interesting to you, and let's get back to our phrasal verbs.

如果大家感兴趣的话,可以去看看。现在,我们继续讲短语动词。

Eat up with or eat up by, it means to be consumed emotionally by something, whether that's jealousy, guilt, or excitement.

“eat up with”或者“eat up by”,它的意思是情感上被某种东西吞噬,无论是嫉妒、内疚还是兴奋。

For example, "He was eaten up by jealousy when he saw her with someone else." We often use this with the past participle eaten, eaten up with, eaten up by jealousy, guilt, whatever.

例句:“当他看到她和别人在一起时,嫉妒吞噬了他。”我们通常用它的过去分词“eaten”,比如“eaten up with”,“eaten up by”嫉妒、内疚之类的。

Eat alive, and you can think of this one as eat someone alive.

“eat alive(生吃)”,你可以把它理解成“eat someone alive(生吃某物)”。

Now, besides the literal meaning, this one is much more often used figuratively.

除了字面意思,这个短语更常用的是它的引申义。

It means to criticize someone harshly or overpower them.

意思是严厉地批评某人或在气势上压倒他们。

For example, "The press ate the politician alive after the scandal." Eat one's heart out.

例句:“丑闻爆出后,媒体把那个政客批得体无完肤。”“eat one's heart out(感到嫉妒)”。

Now, this one's kind of an idiom, but also a phrasal verb, and it means to feel jealous or miserable about something.

这个短语有点像习语,但也是个短语动词,意思是为某事感到嫉妒或痛苦。

For example: While I'm enjoying my time at the beach, you all can eat your heart out at the office.

例句:“当我在海滩上享受的时候,你们这些在办公室的人就羡慕去吧。”

Now, the last two actually have something to do with food, and the first one is eat off or eat off of something, and it means to consume or eat food from a specific surface.

最后两个短语真的和食物有关了。第一个是“eat off”或“eat off of something”,意思是从某个特定的表面上进食。

So for example: "In a lot of cultures, people eat off of plates or eat off plates." Eat out of, this means to eat food directly from a container or an object.

例句:“在很多文化里,人们都是用盘子吃饭的。”“eat out of”意思是直接从容器或物体里拿东西吃。

For example, "She eats the potato chips out of the bag," or, "The horse will eat out of your hand if you hold it flat." Okay, so now you have learned 10 phrasal verbs with eat.

例句:“她直接从袋子里拿薯片吃”,或者“如果你把手摊平,马就会直接从你手里吃东西。”好了,现在你们已经学会了 10 个带“eat”的短语动词。

Did you already know these?

这些短语你们之前就知道吗?
